Exploring the Monferrato hills has taught me how to eat and grow food. I have learned so much by eating in Piemonte, going to the farms and nurseries. Then applying it in my back yard in Germany, the differing climates prevented my seeds from Italy to prosper but I still learned a lot about the process of growing from seed.
I started my first official job as a farmhand when I got back to Texas in August. A Chef I worked for previously started a small farm of his own to grow food for his restaurants. It has been great being able to get out there on land and put my body to the test. It's hard work for sure but I'm loving it!

The next phase of growing my own ingredients begins in San Antonio where we live now. I will be growing the seeds I have collected from my trips to Piedmont in my back yard greenhouse. Its already exciting being in a year round growing climate, I JUST started seeds in the middle of October and already have germination! Excited to learn and hopefully start cooking for people with these ingredients and possibly selling plants for people to grow themselves.
